Gardener

The role

As a Gardener, you are the face of The Kontiki and you play a key role in creating an unforgettable experience. You will be guided to take responsibility for the construction and maintenance of our garden areas and for keeping the pool clean and attractive. You’ll learn to work independently, but also as part of an enthusiastic team. It’s a unique opportunity to develop your skills in a tropical and inspiring environment.

Where will you be working?

As a Gardener, you will be working at The Kontiki an organization where everyone brings their own unique talents but works together as a team to exceed the expectations of our guests. In the role of Gardener, you will be directly accountable to the Maintenance Coordinator.

What will you do?

As a Gardener you are responsible for:

• Prepare the ground, such as soil preparation, water drainage installation, and leveling the terrain.
• Plant trees, grass, and maintain the gardens.
• Redesign garden areas — for example, building pathways (with terraces, walls, rock features,
  ponds, and other water elements)
• Monitor the health of plants and trees, identify and treat diseases, pests, or infestations with the
  appropriate fertilizer.
• Trim and prune trees and grass; install supports and protection for plants as needed.
• Cultivate plants from seed or cuttings.
• Install, operate, and maintain the irrigation system.
• Take care of pool maintenance and cleanliness.
• Clean parts of the garden and keep walkways clear by removing weeds and overgrowth.
• Maintain and repair gardening tools and equipment.
• Be able to inform guests about garden maintenance and answer related questions.
