Slow Days, Loud Nights: North Sea Jazz from The Kontiki

For one week in September, Curaçao feels different. When the Curaçao North Sea Jazz Festival returns, the island comes alive at night with extra energy and excitement.

This year, the festival takes place on September 3, 4, and 5 at Piscadera Bay, with a free warm-up show on September 1 at Kura Hulanda Village to get everyone started. The lineup has something for everyone. J Balvin, Sean Paul, and The Jacksons bring big hits. Stephen Marley and Kassav’ highlight Caribbean music. Jon Batiste, Toto, Rubén Blades, and Gente de Zona add even more variety, and for jazz fans, there’s Al Di Meola and a special performance by Branford Marsalis and Dianne Reeves. It’s three nights packed with music.

That’s why choosing the right place to relax between shows is important.

At The Kontiki, you can take your days as easy as you like. Start your morning slowly, have breakfast at Cabana with your feet in the sand, swim, read, or relax by the saltwater pools. Let the afternoon pass without worrying about the time. This slow pace is perfect after a night of music.

When you want to explore, the island is just outside your door. Take an electric Fiat and drive along the coast. Stop at a bay you discover along the way. Try some fresh fish at a local spot, even if the menu isn’t in English, and return feeling relaxed and happy. There’s so much more to Curaçao than just the festival, and September is a great time to discover it. In the evening, the excitement returns, and you won’t want to miss a moment. Getting to the festival is simple.

The World Trade Center at Piscadera Bay is about fifteen minutes from Willemstad. You can drive your electric Fiat or take a taxi, our team can arrange one for you anytime. The roads get busy during festival nights, so leave a little early and enjoy the anticipation on the way. No matter how you plan your week, we’re here to make your stay easy. Your room, slow mornings, and lively nights all fit into one simple plan. Enjoy music when you want it and quiet when you need it. That’s the best of both worlds, just like Curaçao.
